Hymn to Athena

Hail Athena, Lady of Campaigns
Lady of Justice, Lady of the Arts
Your umbrella spreads over many realms
You are she of many virtues
You are she of the owl and spear
You will readily ride to war
But the outcome is your goal
As much as the battle
Unlike fierce-blooded Ares
You are content to spin, to weave,
To throw pots, to paint, to sculpt
You are Mother of Invention
As well as Intuition
Lady of the Shadows
Your breastplate is a protective shield
Over the battling combatants
You are shrewd and swift
Fierce but calm, guided and guarded
Your rage is a channeled one
Carefully prepared and sent swiftly to target
You pass on the wisdom of the ages
The secrets of time, the lessons of man
The olive tree is your gift, symbol of your love
Lady of the wise, we pray to you for a clear mind,
A quick head, and a strong heart
